It’s that time of year again—Halloween is one of our favorite company holidays and we go all out! Check back on our Facebook page for an office tour and photos from our party.

This year we asked our team for the deets on their favorite creatures and sordid Trick or Treating pasts…

Rochelle

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Hmmm I wouldn’t necessarily say favorite, but I respect the IT clown costume design. He’s just soooo creeepy scary!!! I think it’s the teeth that get me…or the clown costume in general.

DIY or store-bought costume?
DIY! My mom made my Tin Man costume (from Wizard of Oz) from scratch and I won $20! I used that money to buy Goosebump books. Talk about lover of Halloween!

Trick or Treat story?
One time an old old woman gave me a roll of pennies. (sigh) Only in Arkansas….

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Justin don’t hate me…but I looooveee Candy Corn! Get in my belly

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Annabelle–The Conjuring is the best scary movie ever.

DIY or store-bought costume?
Store bought. I don’t have any time for anything more.

Personal favorite costume?
One year I went as Red Riding Hood and my husband was the big bad wolf. I filled my basket with rum balls and we went to an adult party.

Trick or Treat story?
When I was younger I went as the headless horseman and used an actual carved out pumpkin as my head. Didn’t think that one out too well. I couldn’t see very well; my head kept on sliding to the side; it smelled all night; I couldn’t go up steps for the life of me; and my hair was disgusting by the time I got home. Bad idea.

Favorite Halloween treat?
Anything that looks like something you should not eat. Kitty Litter Cake, worms in Dirt Cake.

Least favorite?
Candy corn, I do not like candy corn.

annabelle

Drew

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Godzilla! I’ve always kinda wanted to get into a giant rubber Godzilla suit and smash a fake town, complete with roars, radioactive breath and badly-dubbed people screaming “GODZILLLAA!”

DIY or store-bought costume?
I appreciate the convenience and ease of store bought though generally DIY costumes turn out the best.

Personal favorite costume?
My personal favorite was when I dressed up all in black and had a headsman’ hood when I was a kid, felt like an axe murderer loose on the streets.

Trick or Treat story?
My strangest experience was probably my first Halloween experience; I remember being somewhat skeptical of the whole thing, you mean I dress up in a costume, go to people’s houses, say a special phrase and actually get candy? You know what? It WORKS!

Bonus: My very first piece of candy was one of those flavored tootsie rolls.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Favorite treat hands-down is Reese’s miniature peanut butter cups – I can’t even allow myself a bag at Halloween, it would be gone in a couple of days. Least favorite – tootsie rolls. Hate ’em, have always hated ’em and will continue to hate ’em.

DIY, The Tooth Fairy might be my best work

Favorite Halloween treat?
The best Halloween candy is by far Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Godzilla “SKRAAAAAAA!”

DIY or store-bought costume?
DIY for sure. My favorite of all time had to be my spaceman costume complete with the Moon Boots toy and horrible space sounds made by yours truly.

Trick or Treat story?
Taking a friend’s son out to trick or treat because his dad had to work. They lived in a tight knit neighborhood and at almost every house I had to explain the fact that I was not Matt’s Boyfriend. By the end of the night I just gave up and either said it was my kid or that Matt and I totally had this kid together.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Favorite treat ever was those sticky slap hands that you used to get from the little coin machines but this house had the biggest ones I’ve ever seen and they bought them in bulk which led to hours of fun. Least favorite “treat” was a book telling me how bad of a child I was for celebrating the Devil’s holiday. The house would scorn every set of kids that would come up to the house.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Favorite monster has to be a shape shifter. I mean, they could be anywhere! Maybe closer than you think, muahahaaaaa. ha.

DIY or store-bought costume?
If you can do it, DIY all the way. The costumes typically last longer than the cheap store bought material too. I still have the outfit I used for my Ron Burgundy outfit in college (attached for your viewing pleasure).

Trick or Treat story?
I was always more of a fan of giving out candy than going house to house. One year, my Dad put me in an old mechanic jumper and put a pumpkin on my head with candy in my lap. People didn’t know I was in there and I scared the snot out of a few neighbors.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Favorite – Hershey’s Cookies and Cream Bar, Least – Anything dark chocolate. Yuck.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Much like a teenage girl, sign me up for all things vampire.

DIY or store-bought costume?
Always homemade, never, ever store bought. That’s definitely what’s the most fun for me, the actual creation of the costume and making something unique from everyone else. In recent history I would say my Toddlers and Tiaras costume was one of my favorites. It won two costume contests, one of which was a bar tab! Plus, I got to get the darkest spray tan of my life which was really fun post halloween.

Trick or Treat story?
Last year we gave out full sized candy bars because we wanted to be the ‘cool’ house on the street. That resulted in a few weird things: one, parents would see the candy bars and ask if they could have one too, and how do you say no? And then we totally had the same kids come back multiple times and again…how do you say no?

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
My favorite halloween candy is probably Sugar Babies, cause when else do you get those? Least favorite, I want to say Good n Plenty, because who would likes those? But I think I might actually like them…

Favorite Creature/Monster?
My favorite monster is Freddy Krueger. He is my favorite because no matter what, people have to sleep. He’s basically the perfect monster because no one can escape him.

DIY or store-bought costume?
I’m a huge DIY fan! My personal favorite was my costume in 8th grade. I went as Uncle Festor. My mom made the costume and did my makeup. I surprised her by shaving my head that year. It was fantastic!

Trick or Treat story?
I remember one year trick or treating with my siblings and being accosted by a very religious type that did not agree with the whole holiday. Now that I’m older and have kids I really can’t believe someone would do that to a child, their life must be so exhausting.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Hands down the little blue vanilla Tootsie Rolls. I despise candy corn. What the hell is that crap???

Clowns – Not sure this is my favorite but its definitely what i’m most scared of.

Personal favorite costume?
My Ringmaster costume last year. I thought it looked pretty sweet.

Trick or Treat story?
Meeting some creepy dude called the “Rat Man” who would walk around the streets with rats chillin on his shoulders. He would also put them in his mouth. Gross.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Favorite? KitKat’s. Least Favorite? Candy Corn or black licorice

pennywise

Justin

Favorite Creature/Monster?
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Tremors‘ Graboids and Tim Curry’s Pennywise. Fond memories of jumping on furniture to get back to my room and staying away from storm drains.

DIY or store-bought costume?
DIY all the way. My mom and dad always helped me make costumes growing up and that rubbed off on me for sure. I’m also a big fan of movie effects; I used to record and watch Movie Magic religiously.

Personal favorite costume?
I’ve made some pretty involved ones in my day, but I think my favorite would be the Beetlejuice my mom did for me in second grade. Custom pinstripe suit and some crazy makeup—even won 2nd place in a costume contest at Safeway… NBD.

Trick or Treat story?
Few stories that stand out: That time we hit up the wealthier houses up above South Boulder… were given full sized candy bar/tooth brush at one house.
The other was near the end of my trick or treating career—in middle school, around CU we were called into a sorority house and led room to room. No complaints about that tour.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
I’m an equal opportunity sugar eater—except candy corn. So nasty. One of the prizes from that costume contest I won in 2nd grade was a huge bag of candy corn. I didn’t really like it then and that absolutely sealed the deal.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
I don’t do scary creatures or monsters, so i’m going to give you a majestic mythical figure instead: the dragon. Dragons, when properly tamed by humans, can be protective and incredibly loyal companions. Treat the dragon with the love and respect it deserves, then you have a best friend for life.

DIY or store-bought costume?
I go for a combination of both, but I think DIY is a ton more fun. My favorite costume was being an ABA Basketball player. I wore women’s running shorts, an old school NBA jersey, a head band, high socks, and hightop chuck taylor’s. That year, I learned to account for weather when accounting for a costume.

Trick or Treat story?
I grew up in the farmlands in Virginia, so trick or treating was quite the ordeal. One year, my friend threw a big sleepover party and his mom bought us all the candy a middle school kid could possibly imagine. Since we were stuck on a giant farm and couldn’t go out, we decided to play cops and robbers with flashlights instead. As one of my friends was running away from the “cop” his flashlight went out and from a distance I heard him yell, “robber down, robber down!” I quickly ran over to the scene and saw that he ran directly into a thin tree, about 7 feet tall, and completely unrooted it. Seeing him on the ground next to an unrooted tree was probably the best treat I could have asked for.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
The Kit Kat is the bee’s knees of halloween treats. On the other end of the spectrum, Candy Corn might be one of mankind’s worst inventions.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Michael Meyers scares me the most, the music alone gives me the chills.

DIY or store-bought costume?
DYI – Personal favorite is Mustache Man Pig Superhero, made by Rachel and Renae Escobar.

Trick or Treat story?
Last year a little dog escaped someone’s front door when the kids knocked on it to Trick or Treat. The little dog was scared and running away from all of the Trick or Treaters, we spent the next 15 minutes helping the owner catch the dog and bring him home. That was a Trick or Treating first for me, and sort of strange. :)

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Favorite: Baked pumpkin seeds! Least Favorite: Candy Corn

Favorite Creature/Monster?
It would have to be Chucky! I absolutely hate Chucky, but he is definitely someone that will always scare me no matter how old I am.

DIY or store-bought costume?
I try to be creative, but I always do things last minute. So, store bought is the way to go for me nowadays. But when I was younger I did make a 50’s poodle skirt from scratch. I was very proud of that and tried to wear it as much as I could.

Trick or Treat story?
I can’t really think of anything, but I do remember going to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights and being terrified by the scary clowns that would slide on their knee pads behind people when they’re not paying attention and scaring the crap out of them. Also zombies holding hands with girls that they think are their boyfriends at the time until they turn their head and see a scary zombie/monster next to them. It was great watching and laughing at people until it happened to me.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Favorite: Candy corns; Least favorite: Butterfingers

Ari

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Frankenstein’s Monster from The Monster Squad. He’s so misunderstood.

DIY or store-bought costume?
Usually DIY, and quite often last minute. Two years ago, my wife and I dressed up as “Thing 1 & 2” (Dr. Seuss), with a “Thing 3” on her belly that we used for our baby announcement.

Trick or Treat story?
I don’t want to talk about it.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Don’t ask me why, but Smarties were always my favorite as a kid. I’d trade candy with other kids to get more of them. As for least favorite…. candy corn is pretty bad.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
I’ve always liked the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow.

DIY or store-bought costume?
I love DIY (with some store bought pieces is fine) but usually procrastinate too much to be able to do it every year.

Trick or Treat story?
I was probably early teenager at this point, but a friend of mine and I dressed up as ghosts (think Scream mask with long black robes) and used roller blades to trick-or-treat. We also used pillow cases as our candy bags. Not only did we get a lot of candy that year, we looked good doing it “floating” down the streets of our neighborhood.

Favorite Halloween treat? Least favorite?
Pretty much anything chocolate goes first, but Butterfinger has always been a personal favorite. I wouldn’t miss Smarties though if they suddenly stopped giving them out for trick-or-treat.

Favorite Creature/Monster?
Mermaids are my favorite mystical sea creatures. I don’t really like scary monsters, but I do like Beetlejuice.

Personal favorite costume?
My favorite was a witch costume I had when I was little that glowed in the dark and was covered in sparkly purple, green and orange spiders. I had a big spider web painted on my face and purple witch hair.

Trick or Treat story?
I can’t remember anything super strange, but I have a funny story. For my 7th birthday I had a costume party on Halloween that my mom gave me only enough invitations to invite my 1st grade class (which was 16 kids total). I decided to tell everyone in the class that they can bring their brothers and sisters and then I also made some invitations of my own to pass out on my school bus. We ended up with 70 kids at my birthday party… My mom was thrilled.
