Believe it or not, our generation is one of a kind. A generation that has lived before and after the advent of the internet and smartphones. As we all know, life before the mobile phone was rather primitive in terms of communication. Now, businesses around the world rely heavily on emails, phone calls, and instant messengers. And where we have found these forms of communication to be sufficient, we’ve also found it in our best interest to keep a human touch in everything we do.
One way Diablo Media extends its efforts to keep things real is to sponsor bigger events like Ad:tech SF, and smaller events like the Affiliate Network Meet Up. Last week, the Affiliate Network Meet Up was held at Ugly Dog Sports Cafe.
We find it very beneficial to spend time with clients. I know from experience that I have better relationships and more profitable partnerships with clients I know face to face, even if it was only for five minutes. As a psychology major, I remember a quote. “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” My main goal as a Global Affiliate Manager is to make sure my affiliates know and feel like they are being taken care of.
With over 25 sponsors and 12 Diablo employees in attendance, the Affiliate Network Meet Up was a success. For the OGs that have been in the industry for the last decade or so, it was a great way to reconnect. For the juniors, there’s no better way to meet new contacts, make new friends, and discover new ways to generate business. Last but not least, Murray Newlands was in the house sponsoring massages and we collaborated with Aesthetic Ice to have a custom Diablo ice luge made. Pretty awesome if you ask us.
This conference gets bigger and better every time. Who knows, there may even be potential for Denver to have its own national or international conference one day. The next Affiliate Network Meet Up is on September 17th. We hope to see you there!
